Come one, come all! Join the Team

The truck is in the fire station. It's time for Mel to recruit a committed team of folks to take this plan to the next level. Training commences Feb 21st, 2026, 9am to 11am, and will happen every 3rd Saturday of the month after that. You do need to meet some important safety standards to be a firefighter, but you don't have to be a firefighter to come to the training. There are other jobs to do, like preparing the truck for operations and re-setting it after it is used, keeping the fire station clean, tidy, and well-stocked with necessary items. We need mechanics to keep vehicles in tip-top condition - we are looking for a type-6 first response vehicle at present. We need folks to continue the fit-out and extension of the fire station. All skills are helpful!

Phase 1 of the fire station build is complete, thanks to a ton of work by Matt and our volunteer build team. The Greer Fire District finally has a home to start a new first response firefighting team. Next steps include planning for the concrete floor, full insulation, power, water etc. There is plenty still to be done before we can even think about adding the extensions. If you want to join the build team, call Matt Turner to offer your services. If you want to join the firefighter team, please download and fill in the application form, or call Melana Whitaker for more information. Monthly training starts Feb 21st, 9am to 11am at the Fire Station, then every 3rd Saturday of the month.

Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket for the chance to win a Henry rifle. Because of you, Greer Fire District added $1,200 to its building budget and Jordan picked up his prize from the drawing for a Henry rifle. We are extremely grateful to Olives Auto Parts for providing the rifle and selling tickets, including Jordan's.
